Who we are

Nantucket Dining (“we,” “us,” “our”) is operated by NantucketAI. This policy explains what information we process when you use nantucketdining.com, how we use it internally to improve our platform, and how we aggregate it to discover local dining trends. It also explains how both visitors and restaurants can request the removal or correction of data. For any questions or requests, please contact info@nantucketai.com.

Information we collect and process

Chat data. When you use our AI chat, we process your questions and the generated answers. We do not collect, log, or store your IP address, name, email address, phone number, or any traditional personal identifiers. Your chat queries are treated as structurally anonymous inputs.

Active session tracking. To allow the AI to remember the context of your active conversation and prevent your chat history from disappearing if you refresh your browser, we store a randomly generated, anonymous device identifier in your browser’s local storage. This identifier is never linked to your real identity.

Usage and analytics. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for standard, aggregate website metrics such as total pages viewed, traffic sources, and approximate geographic location (e.g., town or region level, without specific network identifiers). These services utilize cookies to compile aggregate traffic statistics.

Restaurant and menu information

We publish restaurant names, menus, wine lists, pricing, hours, and related details sourced from each restaurant’s own public website, published menu documents, and other public sources. This information is refreshed periodically and represents business data about public establishments. Restaurants can request immediate removal or correction at any time — see “Restaurant listing removal or correction” below.

How we use information

We use the information we collect across two strictly separated purposes:

Internal app optimization and operations. We use chat data combined with your anonymous device identifier internally to maintain your active chat sessions, troubleshoot bugs, evaluate the accuracy of our AI’s responses, and train, tune, or optimize our proprietary search algorithms and system prompts.

Aggregated insights and monetization. We may analyze the text of user questions to track general dining trends and consumer demand on Nantucket (such as spikes in searches for specific cuisines, neighborhoods, or amenities). When we prepare or share any such trend report, we first isolate the question text into a separate, aggregated dataset and remove the anonymous device identifier, so the report reflects general demand rather than any individual’s activity. We reserve the right to commercialize, license, or sell these fully anonymized, aggregated industry trend reports to third parties, such as local restaurants, hospitality groups, or market researchers. We never sell sequential chat histories or any data linked to an individual device identifier.

How your questions are processed

To generate answers to your queries, your message and immediate conversation context are transmitted to third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic and OpenAI) via secure, developer-grade APIs. These infrastructure providers process data strictly on our behalf to generate text responses. Per our developer agreements, these third parties are prohibited from using your chat inputs to train their public models.

Cookies and local storage controls

Local storage. The anonymous device identifier remains in your browser’s local storage until cleared. You can clear your browser cache and storage at any time to instantly delete and reset this identifier on your end.

Cookies. You can block, manage, or delete analytics cookies directly through your browser settings. You can also use tools like the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent tracking.

Do Not Track. Our website does not alter its behavior in response to automated browser “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals.

Data retention

We retain operational chat records and system logs only for as long as necessary to maintain, secure, and improve our services, after which they may be deleted or anonymized.

Your choices and rights

Because we do not collect or log your name, email, or IP address, we do not maintain data that can identify you individually. However, depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding data transparency.

State-specific disclosure. We do not sell your personal data for monetary compensation. To the extent that sharing data with standard third-party analytics cookies is deemed a “sale” or “share” under certain state frameworks, you may opt out via your browser’s cookie settings.

If you would like us to manually clear the chat logs currently associated with your specific device identifier in our operational database, please email info@nantucketai.com.

Restaurant listing removal or correction

If you represent a local establishment and would like your business details updated, corrected, or completely removed from our search index, please email info@nantucketai.com from an official email address hosted on that restaurant’s domain. This allows us to verify your authority to make the request. Please include the restaurant’s name and the specific modifications requested. Verified requests are addressed promptly.

Data security

We implement reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect the integrity of our systems. However, no method of digital transmission or data storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Our platform is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International users

Nantucket Dining is operated from and hosted within the United States. If you access the site from abroad, your anonymous queries will be processed in the U.S., where data infrastructure and privacy laws may vary from your home jurisdiction.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in our technology or local data practices. The “last updated” date at the top of this document indicates the most recent revision.
